The Exclusive 10

Last night I attended the launch of Warehouse's new collection 'The Exclusive 10'
The collection is made of 10 sensationally designed pieces from the in-house team at Warehouse. They were originally created for Elite Model Look Grand Final competition but have since wound their way onto the rails. Available in selected stores across the UK, these pieces are limited edition only, so be quick to snap up yours!!
Here are a few of my faves:


I love jumpsuits, they're just as classy as dresses (look at the detail around the bust!) But they'll set you apart from the crowd.


This is a perfect way of looking pretty without being 'cutesy'


Utter class, I'd save this for a show-stopping occassion...

The Regent

Now, I know food isn't exactly fashionable, but it's kinda lifestyle. So, this will only be a quick post. But whilst in Kensal Green the other day, I came across a little side street with a beautiful looking pub called The Regent.



I popped in for lunch and I genuinely have to say it's one of the nicest pubs I've ever been to. Reasonably priced, GORGEOUS FOOD, and so so individual. There was a giant bowl of popcorn on the bar as soon as you walk in (thumbs up), there was chalk writing and doodles all over the walls (not immature, I assure you) AND the furniture was ornate, grand, yet cosy.

Rag & Bow

Some of you may have heard of Rag&Bow, I'll forgive you if a lot of you haven't. Rag&Bow is a "roaming vintage pop up stall" ran by a woman named Hazel Holtham. Last Saturday I attended her pop-up boutique in Kensal Rise, the place wasn't exactly large or the greatest vintage stall on Earth, but I don't think it claims to be. Hazel prides herself on finding fashion-forward (if you can call vintage forward) clothing at affordable prices. And boy, was my find an affordable one.




As I skimmed through the rails, a mid-calf length military green coat caught my eye, now I've seen one that is SENSATIONAL in River Island. But that's where the fantasy stops, because a student's loan cannot stretch to (I believe it's) £90. I will check that though as it's not actually on sale at the moment and different publications have it priced differently.



Anyway, I traipsed upstairs to don this magnificent coat, and it fits, like a glove. The price? £18. I know. Bargain. So on current trend with utility and midi-length, this coat isn't bulky nor so thin that it won't keep me warm.




Today I teamed it with my flat tan moccasins (£20 KG sale), black tights and a black ensemble of a long tee and bodycon mini underneath. A New Look tan satchel, New Look wooden beads and a Warehouse tan cuff helped to bring the look together. In order for me NOT to look like I was enjoying channelling 'Granny Chic', I left the coat open and belted it with a skinny tan belt from Primark (£1) so that it still gave me SOME kinda shape.

FMS launch

Last week saw the launch of the 7th edition of the genius magazine that is FMS. I was lucky enough to find out about the event, that took place at Punk in Soho. Live music, free drinks, Fashion Music Style. What a better way to spend your evening?
Punk in Soho is a rather lovely place, not too packed full of people but that was no problem as it made plenty of way for people to bust their moves on the dancefloor, appreciating the FIVE UNSIGNED acts that were featured in the magazine and played throughout the night. I would recommend Punk as a nightclub, it's not huge and the drinks aren't cheap (but where is in the capital?) The acts were: Daytona Lights, Brilliant Mind, Boy Mandeville, Babeshadow, and The Wild Mercury Sound.
I advise you to listen to these bands, the free CD we were provided with has a current magnificent spot in my CD player in my car :-)



As you can see I opted for a classic LBD on the night, with black cut-out shoe boots, and a SENSATIONAL vintage jacket in a blush pink, covered with sequins. I bought that from a vintage fair in Leeds for around £20, it's in perfect condition and the shape of the jacket is cut in such a flattering way, naturally nipping you in at the waist. And my necklace was a bargain at 8euros from a little shop in Zante, where I went for a girlie holiday this August.

The Lady and The Revamp

On my way back to the tube station I strolled past the headquarters of The Lady magazine. Being a budding journalist I was rather interested and took time to appreciate this building.



As pretty as the front of the building is, I was intrigued by the history of The Lady. In fact, it kinda made history. Thomas Gibson Bowles launched the magazine in 1885, as the first weekly women's magazine. Bowles himself was an interesting man, he was grandfather to The Mitford Sisters (6 sisters in the 20's who caused controversy and were the IT girls of their time) AND he also founded the British magazine Vanity Fair.



It was only until I saw the Channel 4 documentary The Lady and The Revamp that I really understood the importance of The Lady as a magazine, as a business, as an ideal. And I just thought I'd post a bit about the magazine because it really deserves a mention :-)

By seeing London, I have seen as much of life as the world can show.

Paying a visit to Covent Garden isn't exactly a chore. The market, the street performers, oh the atmosphere. I don't give two hoots if it's pouring down with rain, I just love the place.
And seeing as though I was there, I thought I should pop into Lucy in Disguise, the new vintage store opened by Lily Allen and her sister Sarah Owen. It would be rude not to, wouldn't it?



Inside it's AMAZING and I'm in love. I'm not going to lie. It's like a little haven of wonderful-ness. Like the feeling when I walk into Selfridges Shoe Galleries or stepping into Liberty or gazing at the bookshelves in R.D. Franks. That feeling where you know it's a place you could run to in order to escape everyday hassle or stress, because it calms you and makes you feel at home and at peace. Well, Lucy in disguise will be added to this list I am sure. Plus there is a vodka bar (excellent) AND a gaming area so you can leave your boyfriend in the corner whilst you browse, so everyone's a winner!





As you can see from my photographs, long gone are the smelly jumpers, stuffed rails, and stained tea dresses. This store is extravagant, fragile, refreshing and a bloody brilliant idea. The clothes range from about £25 to £990 (well that's the most expensive item I saw, it was a Hermes camel coloured cape, so worth it, in my opinion) :-) BUT you can also hire the clothing!!! The price of rent ranges and depends on the value of the garment, but every item is immaculate, current and in fabulous condition so you'll definitely be dressed to impress if you decided to borrow from Lucy In Disguise.

London Fashion Weekend

Sorry I haven't updated in a while!!
Settling into Uni life and spending my time watching films, pretending they're related to fashion is some way or another :-)
So, last weekend I attended London Fashion Weekend at Somerset House. Beautiful surroundings, Beautiful clothes, Beautiful people. Unfortunately I booked my ticket rather late on so I didn't get to see the catwalk show, but on the bright side it gave me more time to hunt through the rails :-)



London Fashion Weekend was open to the public who bought tickets for entrance and it showcased a range of designers from boutiques to High Fashion at discounted prices, there were freebies of Jacques, Diet Coke and Special K (If you have a rough idea of me, then you'll know I appreciated the former freebie A LOT more)



AND if anyone's ever seen Project Runway, you will have seen a few seasons ago they had a paper dress challenge, some of which were clever and creative BUT NOT as show stopping as I thought this dress was!



Shown in the window of the financial firm Coutts this dress was so well designed and constructed I didn't even notice it was paper until I read the description!!
