By seeing London, I have seen as much of life as the world can show.

Paying a visit to Covent Garden isn't exactly a chore. The market, the street performers, oh the atmosphere. I don't give two hoots if it's pouring down with rain, I just love the place.
And seeing as though I was there, I thought I should pop into Lucy in Disguise, the new vintage store opened by Lily Allen and her sister Sarah Owen. It would be rude not to, wouldn't it?



Inside it's AMAZING and I'm in love. I'm not going to lie. It's like a little haven of wonderful-ness. Like the feeling when I walk into Selfridges Shoe Galleries or stepping into Liberty or gazing at the bookshelves in R.D. Franks. That feeling where you know it's a place you could run to in order to escape everyday hassle or stress, because it calms you and makes you feel at home and at peace. Well, Lucy in disguise will be added to this list I am sure. Plus there is a vodka bar (excellent) AND a gaming area so you can leave your boyfriend in the corner whilst you browse, so everyone's a winner!





As you can see from my photographs, long gone are the smelly jumpers, stuffed rails, and stained tea dresses. This store is extravagant, fragile, refreshing and a bloody brilliant idea. The clothes range from about £25 to £990 (well that's the most expensive item I saw, it was a Hermes camel coloured cape, so worth it, in my opinion) :-) BUT you can also hire the clothing!!! The price of rent ranges and depends on the value of the garment, but every item is immaculate, current and in fabulous condition so you'll definitely be dressed to impress if you decided to borrow from Lucy In Disguise.

London Fashion Weekend

Sorry I haven't updated in a while!!
Settling into Uni life and spending my time watching films, pretending they're related to fashion is some way or another :-)
So, last weekend I attended London Fashion Weekend at Somerset House. Beautiful surroundings, Beautiful clothes, Beautiful people. Unfortunately I booked my ticket rather late on so I didn't get to see the catwalk show, but on the bright side it gave me more time to hunt through the rails :-)



London Fashion Weekend was open to the public who bought tickets for entrance and it showcased a range of designers from boutiques to High Fashion at discounted prices, there were freebies of Jacques, Diet Coke and Special K (If you have a rough idea of me, then you'll know I appreciated the former freebie A LOT more)



AND if anyone's ever seen Project Runway, you will have seen a few seasons ago they had a paper dress challenge, some of which were clever and creative BUT NOT as show stopping as I thought this dress was!



Shown in the window of the financial firm Coutts this dress was so well designed and constructed I didn't even notice it was paper until I read the description!!

Get a cape. Wear a cape. Fly?

So nothing THAT interesting has happened today, and the weather was atrocious. Thank you for that Rain God :-)

So in my conquest to own and adore every singe independent designer in the whole of West Yorkshire, I wore a navy blue cape from a boutique in the Corn Exchange, Leeds, named Hidden Wardrobe. With the polo neck it's rather suitable for these harsh months and saves on bulking up with a scarf. The cape already came with a matching material belt with ties nicely around the waist to still help give me some shape. AND navy blue is a rather BETTER and more INTERESTING colour than wearing black, with black, upon black, under black. All The Time.


Then I wore a beautiful bangle from a shop in Kingly Court on Carnaby Street (another one, I know, my collection needs to stop growing) A tarnished silver that has a sensational embossed pattern with a large black gem stone in the middle really helps to make a statement and stand out from the crowd.


AND my amazing Lulu Guinness bracelet. It should have been over £100 pounds but I got it in the sale from a boutique in Harrogate for, wait for it, TWENTY FIVE POUNDS!!! It's sensational. The pearls on it are HUGE and the links are in pewter. Look at the chunky clasp? Different and rather cool isn't it? Let's take time to appreciate this :-)

Gold cannot be pure, and people cannot be perfect.

Today I have done, well, naff all. A lecture on the history of magazines here, an hour on a Personal Development Programme there. BUT that's no excuse to slum it in jeans and uggs. Urgh. Uggs.
So, i wore a jumper, yes because the weather in England is atrociously wet and muggy.
So i wore my lurvely fur trimmed boots from R.I (see previous post), leggings (because i HATE jeans), and a navy blue breton striped jumper from H&M (all round winner, £10 AND a-never-uncool-style-of-top.-Ever).


And I thought I'd put to use some of my new favourite jewellery. Because gold is my favourite colour for jewellery. Forever. I invested in a gold necklace from a vintage shop in Kingly Court in Carnaby Street named Marshmallow Mountain. And it was only £17! (I fear I'm doing terrifically superb with budgeting my loan so far)


AND a gold bangle that looks SO SO SPARKLY and I LOVE SPARKLE. Looking wayyy more expensive than it's £8 cost... it would look equally amazing with a black blazer, black heels and a back dress... Making it a statement piece. Sensational.

Beyond Brick Lane, Beyond Retro.

Today I ventured for the second time into London. And it just keeps getting better.
I kept seeing the reoccuring theme of shearling on the catwalk at the A/W shows (Thanks to THAT Burberry Prorsum Aviator Jacket)... So instead of investing in the jacket, which is popping up in EVERY high street store down Oxford Street, I decided to invest in a pair of boots that carried the trend instead..



AND THEN, I visited Beyond Retro... Now prepare yourself because they're in the process of creating an online shop (so hide your credit card now). Don't say I didn't warn you.
I'm a HUGE fan of tribal and ethnic items, be it jewellery, clothing, bags or even belts. Yes belts. And look at my belt :-)

This beautiful piece only cost me £7 and I'll be able to wear it during the day with a solid colour dress to allow it to 'POP' or on an evening with a different ethnic-style print to really clash with style. Take a look at the detail on the silver studs too...


My last but VITAL dress from today is an American Vintage Couture piece. By a californian designer Miss Elliette, AKA America's First Lady of Fashion / AKA The Coco Chanel of American Fashion and Business Couture.
I know I'm a student with limited funds, but this was an absolute necessity. Feast your eyes on this!






This dress has an underlay of a heavy silk/velvet material and is covered with a black chiffon poncho style with burgundy fringing. Sensational. I'll be teaming this with a loose hair, a minimal, understated bangle and a pair of simple black round-toe court shoes. Let this dress do ALL the talking..

Holidaying, Jollydaying

OKAY SO STUPID PICTURE ALERT:



BUT, as previously demonstrated, I do have a major love affair with black and gold. (Infact, I still love the black and gold song by sam sparro...)

Anyhow. Yes I donned this top (one of my favourite styles of top atm). I'm normally a dresses gal and HATE bodycons but only because they don't suit my figure. However I frequently donn one with a top such as this. This was in the sale from H&M at a snip at £15, cool (as in thin) and baggy it definitely made the humid weather more bearable.
And the glasses just SCREAM cool, non? :-)

I'm gonna leave it at this for now, next time I buy something sexy I shall remember to visit my blog,

I could have daaaaanced all night

Right. So. I've been far far away from the land of blog for a very long time. But only because I have no idea how to use it, let's be honest here. I've had my Leaver's Ball. And it was beautiful and eventful and memorable. I was looking to don an ASOS Black Cappuccino One Frill Shoulder Dress, short and mink in colour it's actually SENSATIONAL. But unfortunately it didn't suit my shape (ahem lack of volume up top and ultra addition of volume in the stomach area) :-)

I HATE THESE BRIDESMAID STYLE BALL GOWN DRESSES. With the thick shiny two-tone satin. MAJOR BLEURGH. And I'm not one to wear ordinary things, so I opted for a short length to try and highlight at least SOME ASSETT.

So, after a generous amount of searching on the internet, I was reminded of Blonde&Wise. I have a hitch skirt from them I bought at Clothes Show Live Birmingham. And a dress in a blue silk that I bought for my 17th...

So yeah, keeping with the ruffle shoulder, short length (with a touch of the hitch skirt that I am fond of (in a kind of All-Saints style-eeee)) It's known as a trench dress, you'll understand.. AND A SENSATIONAL COLOUR WITH SENSATIONAL SHOES (£60 from Topshop about 2 years ago, I've only worn them once before and it was with said, previous dress :-)

Okay so here goes, and STOPPING WITH THE RANTING AND WAFFLING...
